KABUL: The General Directorate of State-Owned Companies has said that the imports of standardized electrical equipment from China have started.
The directorate said that following technical assessments of Chinese electrical equipment manufacturers and the signing of contracts with several factories, the production and shipment of the required equipment have begun.
According to the statement, the first phase will include the delivery of approximately 27 containers of power distribution network equipment, along with accessories and electrical insulation components, to Afghanistan.
Officials said the equipment is being imported based on the country’s domestic needs under a joint agreement between the State-Owned Companies Directorate, Afghan Cart Company, and Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS).
The authorities added that the imports are intended to strengthen Afghanistan’s electricity distribution network, improve the quality of power infrastructure, and ensure the availability of standardized electrical equipment across the country.
