Khalilzad: Declining U.S. weapons stocks could prolong war in Iran

KABUL: Zalmay Khalilzad, the former U.S. special representative for Afghanistan, has said that if reports about the depletion of U.S. weapons stocks following the war with Iran are accurate, the situation could contribute to prolonging the conflict.

Khalilzad wrote on X: “The possible depletion of U.S. weapons stocks could encourage China, Russia and some circles in Iran to prolong the war in Iran.”

He believes that a decline in critical U.S. weapons stocks could affect the continuation of the war and Washington’s military capabilities.
