KABUL: Iran and the United States remain divided in their efforts to reach an agreement aimed at permanently ending the conflict in the Gulf region, Reuters, citing a senior Iranian source reported.
According to the report, no progress has so far been made in talks to revive the interim agreement reached in June and establish a timetable for implementing its commitments.
The source said Tehran wants Washington to return to the interim agreement and agree on a clear timeline for both sides to fulfill their obligations.
The interim agreement reached in June called for a permanent halt to military operations and the launch of negotiations toward a final agreement. However, the deal stalled in July due to disagreements between the two sides.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump has again criticized Iran’s leaders, claiming that the United States has full control of the Strait of Hormuz.
