KABUL: Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Alimov says Moscow is ready to support mediation efforts to end the war against Iran and promote stability in the Middle East if it is asked to do so.
Speaking to the Russian newspaper Izvestia, Alimov said Russia’s position is also linked to Moscow’s updated proposal for ensuring security in the Persian Gulf.
Moscow wants to play a diplomatic mediation role in efforts to resolve the Iran conflict and is presenting its Gulf security initiative as a possible mechanism for strengthening regional stability.
Russia has previously called for an end to the war against Iran and urged the parties to resolve the crisis through diplomatic dialogue.
