KABUL: U.S. Army Secretary Dan Driscoll has submitted his resignation to President Donald Trump following months of tensions and disagreements with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, according to reports.
The White House did not deny reports of Driscoll’s resignation when asked about the matter. White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Anna Kelly praised Driscoll, describing him as highly effective in advancing the administration’s agenda and strengthening military readiness.
Reuters reported, citing a source familiar with the matter, that it remained unclear whether the White House had formally accepted Driscoll’s resignation.
The U.S. Army also declined to comment.
The resignation follows months of reported friction between Driscoll and Hegseth over the direction of the Army, including senior military leadership and modernization efforts.
