After meeting Putin, Trump envoys arrive in Kyiv

KABUL: U.S. special representatives Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner have arrived in Kyiv to hold talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

The two U.S. envoys held more than three hours of talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow a day before their visit to Ukraine.

According to the White House, the meeting in Moscow included discussions on key plans and possible next steps toward ending the Russia-Ukraine war.

Witkoff and Kushner’s visit to Kyiv comes as part of U.S. efforts to revive peace talks between Russia and Ukraine.

Zelenskyy described his planned talks with the U.S. representatives as “important and fundamental” and expressed readiness for possible trilateral negotiations.

No specific agreement to end the war has been reached as a result of the meetings so far, but U.S. officials expect practical steps toward launching new negotiations to be announced in the coming weeks.
