KABUL: Pakistan has urged Iran to put pressure on its ally, Yemen’s Houthi movement, to halt attacks on Saudi Arabia.
According to Reuters, Pakistan conveyed the message to Iran at the request of Saudi Arabia, to prevent ongoing tensions between Yemen and Saudi Arabia from spreading to other countries in the region.
The Houthis attacked an air base in Khamis Mushait, Saudi Arabia, and oil-related facilities in nearby cities on Tuesday, injuring 73 people.
The attacks are being described as among the largest Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia since the United States and Israel began their war against Iran in February.
In response, the Saudi-led coalition has carried out airstrikes against Houthi positions in areas under the group’s control, raising concerns that tensions could spread further across the region.
