Boris Johnson: Many cases against Imran Khan are politically motivated

KABUL: Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has said that jailed former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan is facing restrictions in prison.

In an article published in the Daily Mail, Johnson alleged that Khan is being held in a small room and has limited access to exercise, reading materials and communication with the outside world.

Johnson said many of the legal cases against Khan are politically motivated and stem from his disputes with Pakistan’s military establishment.

He added that Pakistan’s military is concerned that Khan could regain widespread political support if released.

The Pakistani government has rejected allegations of mistreatment, saying Khan has access to facilities and services in accordance with prison regulations.
