KABUL: The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) has said that 105 commercial vessels have been rerouted as part of the U.S. naval blockade of Iran.
CENTCOM said the blockade remains in effect and that the vessels were redirected to ensure compliance with the measures.
Iran, meanwhile, has rejected the U.S. naval blockade, describing it as a violation of its sovereignty. Iranian officials have said Tehran will defend its interests and sovereignty against U.S. actions.
The situation has reduced commercial shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz and raised concerns over the movement of energy supplies through the strategically important waterway.
Recent shipping data showed traffic through the strait remained significantly below its 10-day average.
