KABUL: Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan says Turkey is prepared to support Saudi Arabia in the event of a conflict with the Houthis under a trilateral defense pact between Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Pakistan.
Fidan stressed that Saudi Arabia should not become involved in the ongoing war between Iran and the United States.
Saudi Arabia signed a trilateral defense pact with Pakistan and Turkey last month under which an attack on any one of the three countries would be considered an attack on all three.
Meanwhile, the Houthis have carried out repeated attacks against Saudi Arabia since July, and reportedly targeted several key locations in Riyadh the previous day.
Tensions between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis continue amid growing concerns that the conflict between Iran and the United States could expand across the region.
