KABUL: Yemen’s Houthis are advancing to seize key and strategically elevated areas of the country, while also seeking to bring parts of the Red Sea coastline under their control, Reuters reported.
Meanwhile, The New York Times reported that U.S. President Donald Trump planned to launch airstrikes against Houthi positions on Sunday following a request from Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, but canceled the attacks at the last minute.
The Houthis have made rapid advances in Yemen this month, raising concerns over a broader escalation of the war in the Middle East and its potential impact on global energy supplies.
