Achakzai criticizes Pakistan’s strained ties with neighboring countries

KABUL: Mahmood Khan Achakzai, leader of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP), has criticized Pakistan’s strained relations with neighboring countries and the government’s policies toward Afghanistan and other states.

Addressing the Pakistani government in parliament, Achakzai said: “You are in conflict with all your neighboring countries. You have problems with India, Afghanistan, Iran and other countries. What are all these disputes for?”

Referring to Russia’s position on Afghanistan, Achakzai said senior Russian officials had described the Afghan government as a legitimate and national government.

The PkMAP leader also criticized the concentration of power in the hands of military leaders, saying Pakistan had been turned into a hub for terrorists and international mafia groups.
