Ministry of Public Health asked United Nations to conduct a “Demographic Health Survey” in the country

KABUL: The Acting Minister of Public Health, Dr. Qalander Ebad, in a meeting with Dr. Mark, head of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) asked for conducting “Demographic Health Survey” across the country, the ministry said in a statement Wednesday.

In the meeting, Minister of Public Health has highlighted the Islamic Emirate’s two years’ achievements in health sector in the country.

“The provision of health services in Afghanistan is based on the Demographic Health Survey conducted in the year 2015, and there is need for a new survey to be conducted in this section.” the statement quoted Dr. Ebad as saying.

implementation of this survey in the current year.

The Acting Minister of Public Health said, with obtaining statistics of maternal mortality, necessary measures can be taken for its prevention.

The Demographic Health Survey refers to gathering information related to general population characteristics, including age, gender, education, and other relevant factors.
