Entry of 20,000 kilograms of smuggled goods thwarted into country

KABUL: The Inspection and patrol staff of the General Directorate of Customs of the Ministry of Finance have prevented the entry of over 20,000 kilograms of smuggled goods over the past week.

According to a statement from the ministry today, various items, including sweets, human, plant, and animal medicines, as well as food products, were discovered during inspections at ports and customs in the provinces of Nimroz, Kandahar, Farah, Herat, and Helmand.

The statement noted that the smugglers intended to bring these goods into the country without customs duties.

While the ministry reported the arrest of several individuals related to the smuggling of consumer goods, it did not disclose the number of arrestees.

Monitoring of ports and customs to prevent the entry of smuggled goods into the country continues.
