European Union to lift sanctions on Syria

KABUL: Following the U.S. decision to lift sanctions on Syria, the European Union has expressed readiness to revoke all imposed sanctions as well.

Former official Zalmay Khalilzad has described this step as positive, stating that it will aid in Syria’s stability and economic recovery.

He emphasized that Syrian leaders should act wisely and take advantage of the opportunities provided by the U.S. and the EU.

Additionally, Saudi Arabia and Qatar have also canceled international bank loans to Syria.

This comes as Syria’s interim president, Ahmad al-Sharaa, met with President Trump and other leaders in Saudi Arabia.
