KABUL: Friedrich Merz, the Prime Minister of Germany, stated that his country would support Ukraine in producing long-range missiles to counter threats from Russia.
According to Reuters, Merz made the remarks during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
While speaking at a press conference alongside Zelensky, the German Prime Minister addressed a question regarding whether Berlin would supply the long-range “Taurus” missiles to Kyiv, confirming that discussions are underway for their production in Ukraine.
Since taking office, Merz has emphasized strengthening Berlin’s support for Kyiv against Russian attacks.
President Zelensky is currently on an official visit to Germany, which is considered Ukraine’s second most important ally after the United States in its fight against Russia.
