KABUL: As the economic blockade continues and humanitarian aid is restricted from entering the Gaza Strip, the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has identified this area as the “hungriest” place on Earth.
In a report on Friday night, OCHA stated that all residents of Gaza are currently facing complete famine.
Yens Larke, a spokesperson for the UN, noted that although permits were granted for the evacuation of 900 trucks carrying humanitarian aid into Gaza in recent weeks, only 600 of those trucks have been unloaded.
Larke emphasized that humanitarian operations in Gaza have become one of the “most challenging” humanitarian efforts in modern history.
The Israeli regime has enforced strict blockades on Gaza for months, preventing humanitarian aid from entering the region.
In a recent incident, over 40 Palestinians were injured due to gunfire from Israeli forces during a food distribution gathering in Gaza.
