KABUL: The office of the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, said in a statement today that Afghanistan has currently achieved self-sufficiency in 130 production sectors.
According to the statement, Afghanistan has 6,000 manufacturing facilities, achieving self-sufficiency in 130 sectors and partial self-sufficiency in 100 additional sectors.
The manufacturing plants in Afghanistan are operational in 570 sections, including flour, oil, salt, pharmaceuticals, iron, cement, steel, chemical products, and more.
The statement highlighted that these production facilities have directly provided employment for 130,000 individuals.
Support measures for manufacturing in the country include land distribution, provision of raw materials for industrialists, reducing customs tariffs on raw materials and machinery to 1%, preventing the smuggling of factory consumables, imposing tariffs on imported goods similar to domestic products, and organizing domestic and international exhibitions for local products.
Efforts underway to achieve greater self-sufficiency in various sectors.
