KABUL: Mawlavi Najibullah Haqqani, Acting Minister of Urban Development and Housing, announced that the construction work on new townships for refugees has commenced in 15 provinces.
Speaking at the government accountability program to the nation and the achievements of the Emirate’s institutions over the past year, Mohammad Arsala Khroti, the ministry’s Deputy for Financial and Administrative Affairs, stated that over 3,800 urban areas have been monitored to prevent urban violations.
Khroti added that 35 new townships have been established in 25 provinces for forcibly returned refugees in the past year.
Officials believe that the construction of these townships is a significant step toward meeting the housing needs of internally displaced and returning families.
