Japan ambassador’s diplomatic mission ends in Kabul

KABUL: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced the conclusion of the diplomatic mission of Takayoshi Kurumaya, the Japanese Ambassador to Kabul, along with his farewell meeting with Dr. Mohammad Naeem Wardak, the Deputy Minister for Finance and Administrative Affairs.

Hafiz Zia Ahmad Takal, the head of Information and Public Relations at the Ministry, said in a statement today that during his tenure, Ambassador Kurumaya focused on strengthening political, security, economic, and cultural cooperation between Kabul and Tokyo.

Dr. Naeem praised Kurumaya’s tenure as Japan’s ambassador in Kabul, highlighting the importance of ongoing collaboration.

He provided insights into political stability, drug control, trafficking prevention, and anti-corruption efforts, calling for a positive understanding from the international community.

The statement noted that Ambassador Kurumaya commended the existing security, efforts against drug trafficking, and ongoing infrastructure initiatives, emphasizing that Japan will continue its support and cooperation with the people of Afghanistan.

Ambassador Kurumaya has been serving as Japan’s ambassador in Afghanistan since 2023.
