PAROON: Local officials in Nuristan province have reported that 125 kilograms of precious and semi-precious stones were sold in the presence of a number of Indian traders.
Mawlavi Sayed Rahim Amir, Head of Mines and Petroleum of Nuristan, said today that the stones, primarily of the “Birooj and Kunzite” variety, were sold for a total of 5,366,000 Afghanis.
According to Amir, the stones were mined from the Want district of Nuristan.
He emphasized that this quantity of stones was sold through a bidding process.
Notably, this is the first time that Indian traders have participated alongside 150 local traders in the bidding event for these stones.
Previously, stones extracted from Nuristan’s mines have also been sold through similar bidding processes.
