Beginning production of 4,000 megawatts of electricity among issues discussed in Mullah Baradar, Merwais Azizi meeting

KABUL: Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Alhund, the Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, met with Mirwais Azizi, the head of Azizi Group and a national trader, his office said in a statement today.

According to the statement, Azizi reported the completion of preliminary surveys for electricity production projects in Baghlan, Balkh, Jawzjan, Herat, and Bamyan provinces, stating that work on producing 4,000 megawatts of electricity will begin soon.

The statement cites Azizi noting that the overall plan for producing 10,000 megawatts of electricity is divided into three phases, with the first phase encompassing 4,000 megawatts.

During the meeting, Azizi presented several requests regarding the production of 10,000 megawatts of electricity to Baradar.

In response, Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar and the relevant ministries assured him that their requests would be addressed.

At the conclusion of the meeting, following the direction of the Deputy Prime Minister, a joint committee was established comprising representatives from the relevant ministries and Azizi Group to oversee the 10,000 megawatt electricity production project.

This meeting comes two weeks after a memorandum of understanding for the production of 10,000 megawatts of electricity was signed between Azizi and Afghan officials in Kabul.
