Economic Commission approves mineral processing and export policy

KABUL: The Economic Commission, chaired by Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, has approved Afghanistan’s “Processing and Export” policy for minerals.

The Deputy Prime Minister’s office said in a statement today that this policy aims to facilitate mineral processing based on national and international standards, attract domestic and foreign investments, create appropriate coordination among relevant institutions, enable access for mineral traders to regional and global markets, and generate job opportunities within the country.

During the meeting, the report from the designated committee regarding the laboratory complex plan at major ports in the country was also approved after a comprehensive evaluation.

According to the proposed plan, the complex will cater to nine ministries and agencies, with each laboratory to be constructed on an area of 40 jeribs.
