New Delhi seeking ways to enhance capacity of its embassy in Kabul

KABUL: Officials from India’s Ministry of External Affairs have stated that New Delhi is exploring ways to increase the capabilities and capacity of its embassy in Kabul following the upgrading of its diplomatic mission to an embassy.
Randeep Singh Jaiswal, spokesperson for the Ministry, during a press conference said that several phone calls have taken place between the foreign ministers of Afghanistan and India after Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi visited New Delhi.
He emphasized that discussions between senior diplomatic officials from both countries have focused on development cooperation between New Delhi and Kabul.
Currently, the functioning of the Indian embassy’s duties and responsibilities in Afghanistan is under review, a process initiated after the diplomatic mission was upgraded to an embassy.
This development follows Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi’s six-day visit to India, which received significant attention from government officials and the Deoband madrassa in the country.
