KABUL: The High Commission for Addressing Refugees’ Issues reports that 8,305 Afghan migrants were forced to leave Iran and Pakistan and returned to Afghanistan in a single day.
Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, Deputy Spokesman for the Islamic Emirate said in a statement today that the Afghan migrants returned yesterday (Tuesday) through the “Islam Qala and Silk Bridge” crossing points in Herat and Nimroz provinces from Iran, and through the “Spin Boldak, Torkham, and Bahramcha” crossings in Kandahar, Nangarhar, and Helmand provinces from Pakistan.
The report indicates that 4,812 migrants entered through Spin Boldak, 2,357 through Torkham, and 753 through Bahramcha after being expelled from Pakistan.
Additionally, 257 Afghan migrants returned through the Islam Qala crossing, and another 126 through the Silk Bridge from Iran.
Upon their arrival, these returnees were registered and received necessary assistance through the registration and reception committees.
This comes amid ongoing forced expulsions of Afghan migrants from neighboring countries (Iran and Pakistan), with the High Commission for Refugees continuing to provide assistance and facilitate their transfer to their home regions.
