Marco Rubio: EU does not have the right to define international law for U.S.

KABUL: Marco Rubio, the U.S. Secretary of State, recently stated that he does not believe the European Union has the right to define what international law is to Washington.

He made the remarks in a video on the U.S. Department of State’s X page, where he further clarified that the EU “certainly does not have the right” to tell Washington how to defend its national security.

He noted, “The United States is under attack from organized crime groups and drug-trafficking terrorists in our hemisphere, and the President is responding to defend our country.”

The senior U.S. diplomat did not specify in what context the European Union has addressed international law regarding the U.S.

This comes at a time when, in recent weeks, the Pentagon has carried out a series of attacks on boats believed to be used by drug traffickers originating from Venezuela.
