Mirziyoyev: Afghanistan’s involvement in infrastructure, energy, and transport projects must be indispensable to regional policy

KABUL: Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the President of Uzbekistan, stated that the situation in Afghanistan directly impacts regional security and sustainable development, necessitating special attention.
He made the remarks during the opening of the seventh Central Asian Leaders’ Summit, the text of which was published today on the Uzbekistan presidential website.
President Mirziyoyev emphasized that Afghanistan’s participation in infrastructure, energy, and transport projects should be an indispensable part of regional policy.
He stated, “We firmly believe that Afghanistan’s integration into our infrastructure, energy, and transport projects must be an integral part of our overall regional policy.”
Mirziyoyev also noted the need for Central Asian countries to prioritize railway projects linking China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, as well as the Afghan-Trans project, to strengthen interregional connectivity.
The seventh summit of Central Asian leaders is currently taking place in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, where officials from Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, and Tajikistan are discussing strategic economic projects in the presence of Azerbaijan as a special guest.
