KABUL: A pomegranate processing factory with an investment of 50 million Afghanis has begun operating today in Kandahar province.
According to Radio Omid’s correspondent in Kandahar, the factory produces and processes pomegranate juice, syrup, jam, and pure pomegranate seeds.
The factory has the capacity to process one ton of pomegranate fruit per hour.
Local officials in Kandahar have welcomed this investment, emphasizing that its activation will prevent the wastage of pomegranate fruit in the province.
The facility has opened at the peak of the pomegranate harvesting season in Kandahar, which is known for its nationally and internationally renowned pomegranates.
This factory opens at a time when pomegranate juice and products are among the key export items for the country.
