KABUL: As celebrations were held marking the victory of Syrian forces led by Ahmad Al-Sharaa, in honor of the first anniversary of the fall of Bashar Al-Assad’s government, a number of Afghan politicians have also congratulated the Syrian government and people on this occasion.
Anas Haqqani, a prominent political figure in Afghanistan, in a post on his X on Monday night, stated: “On the anniversary of the first freedom of Syria, I extend my highest congratulations to our heroic brothers and the great people of Syria. Your sacrifices and resilience have written a glorious chapter of dignity and honor, and you have achieved your freedom with unwavering steadfastness.”
He expressed wishes for enduring security, solid stability, and a future that reflects the sacrifices of the Syrian people.
December 8 marked the first anniversary of the victory of Syrian forces led by Ahmad Al-Sharaa, the President of Syria.
On this date in 2024, these forces succeeded in overthrowing Bashar al-Assad’s government after more than fifty years of rule in the country.
