KABUL: Masoud Pezeshkian, the President of Iran, has stated that the proximity of South Khorasan province to Afghanistan presents a golden opportunity for Tehran.
The Iranian state news agency IRNA, reported on Saturday night, that he made the remarks during the conclusion of his autumn visit to South Khorasan, in the presence of various economic actors, President Pezeshkian emphasized that this neighborhood with Afghanistan creates favorable conditions for development that should be utilized.
He noted that in South Khorasan, there are suitable foundations for all kinds of development, including mining, neighboring Afghanistan and even Pakistan, and access to the ocean through Chabahar—describing these as golden opportunities that are not found everywhere.
Additionally, some media outlets have reported that during this visit, the President granted the governor of South Khorasan the authority to expand interactions with Afghanistan.
This high-ranking Iranian official emphasized that Tehran will make every effort to strengthen and expedite interactions with Afghanistan, particularly in border areas.
The remarks come at a time when trade relations between Kabul and Tehran, especially in commercial and economic sectors, have significantly advanced in the past four years.
