KABUL: The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has announced plans to establish three comprehensive clinics (NCHC) in Kunar, Kandahar, and Daikundi provinces over the next two years.
In a statement released on Tuesday night, the UN agency shared that these clinics are intended to meet the health needs of returning Afghan migrant families and internally displaced communities, with a budget of $3 million.
The UNHCR indicated that these facilities will be funded through the Afghanistan Humanitarian Trust Fund (AHTF), which is managed by the Islamic Development Bank (IsDB).
The Kunar health center will operate as a hospital and provide services to 150,000 people, while the clinics in Kandahar and Daikundi will serve 45,000 individuals each.
Assessments by the UNHCR reveal that since the beginning of this year (2025), approximately 2.5 million Afghan migrants have returned to their country.
