China committed to providing training for Afghan technical personnel in mining, Ambassador

KABUL: Chinese Ambassador to Kabul Zhao Xing, in a meeting with the acting Minister of Mines and Petroleum Shaikh Shahabuddin Delawar, here in Kabul, said that his country is ready to build the capacity of Afghan technical personnel in the mining sector, the ministry said in a statement today.

In the meeting, both sides also discussed the extraction of the Mes Aynak copper mine in Logar and oil in the Amu Darya oil field.

Minister Delawar added that the daily extraction of 1,400 tons of oil from the Amu Darya, the drilling of 20 new oil wells this year, and the efforts to start practical work on the Aynak copper mine are examples of the productive work of Chinese contracted companies in these two important mines in the country, according to the statement. The Chinese ambassador, while praising the progress in the mining sector of the country, emphasized that his country is committed to providing training for Afghan technical personnel in the mining sector.
