KABUL: Three political leaders from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa have condemned Pakistan’s airstrikes on civilian areas in Afghanistan and called on both countries to end the ongoing tensions.
In a joint statement signed by Mohsin Dawar, leader of the National Democratic Movement, Mahmood Khan Achakzai, head of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party, and Khushal Khan Kakar, a member of the Parliament of Pakistan, the leaders criticized the strikes on civilian areas in Afghanistan.
The statement described the situation as an “undeclared war,” saying that most victims are Pashtuns living on both sides of the disputed Durand Line.
It warned that unless Islamabad reviews its policies toward Afghanistan, continued conflict could further endanger civilian lives.
The leaders added that Pashtuns have long called for an end to violence driven by major powers in the region and have urged peaceful relations between Afghanistan and Pakistan.
