Kim Jong Un re-elected as North Korea’s State Affairs Chief

KABUL: Kim Jong Un has been re-elected as chairman of the state affairs of North Korea following the ruling party’s victory in parliamentary elections.
According to a report by Reuters citing the state news agency KCNA, the decision was made during the first session of the Supreme People’s Assembly, held about a week after the vote.
The assembly, which functions as North Korea’s parliament, is expected also to discuss amendments to the socialist constitution and review leadership positions.
Officials are also set to consider the country’s five-year economic plan previously announced at the ruling party congress.
The parliamentary elections were held last week, with the ruling party securing all seats.
