KABUL: At least 64 people were killed and 89 others wounded in an attack on a teaching hospital in Sudan, according to the World Health Organization.
Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, head of the WHO, said the strike targeted the Ad-Daein Teaching Hospital in East Darfur.
He said the maternity ward was among the hardest hit, with at least 13 children and three healthcare workers among the victims.
The attack caused extensive damage, forcing the hospital to suspend operations and severely disrupting essential medical services.
There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the attack.
The incident comes amid Sudan’s nearly three-year conflict, during which more than 200 attacks on healthcare facilities have been recorded.
