KABUL: The Herat provincial officials say dozens of containers carrying cooking oil have entered Afghanistan through the Islam Qala Border Crossing.
Mohammad Yousuf Saeedi, spokesperson for the provincial governor said in a video message, that the shipment is being distributed to markets across the country.
He noted that the increased supply is expected to help reduce prices in local markets.
Officials added that efforts to stabilize supplies and control prices are continuing despite ongoing regional tensions.
Earlier, authorities in Herat also announced measures to ease transit for Iranian vehicles at the border.
