Gas pipeline explosion disrupts supply in Pakistan’s Balochistan

KABUL: An explosion targeting a gas pipeline has disrupted supply to parts of Balochistan province, Pakistani media reported.
According to The Express Tribune, unidentified armed people blew up a section of the pipeline in the Akhtarabad area near Quetta, causing a major fire and halting gas transmission to the provincial capital and nearby districts.
The damaged pipeline belongs to Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and is reported to be an 18-inch line.
Initial findings by bomb disposal teams suggest the incident was an act of sabotage, with explosives planted beneath the pipeline, leading to extensive destruction.
A company spokesperson said technical teams have since managed to bring the fire under control, but supply disruptions remain.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
Balochistan Province has long faced security challenges, with recent attacks on Pakistani security forces reported in the region.
