KABUL: Afghan defense forces have rescued a number of residents stranded by flooding caused by heavy rains in southern Afghanistan, officials said.
According to statements from the 205 Al-Badr Army Corps and 215 Azm Army Corps, operations were carried out in parts of Kandahar and Helmand provinces.
Flooding in districts including Daman, Arghistan, and Garmsir stranded several civilians, but they were safely evacuated to secure locations.
Officials said women, children, and sick individuals were among those rescued.
Rescue teams, along with technical personnel and machinery units, remain deployed in vulnerable areas to respond to further emergencies.
The operations come as severe weather continues across the country, with authorities warning of ongoing heavy rainfall and flooding in multiple regions.
