KABUL: At least 15 people have been martyred, 18 injured, and one remains missing in Afghanistan over the past 24 hours due to rain-related incidents, officials said.
Mohammad Yousuf Hamad, spokesperson for the National Disaster Management Authority, said in a videotape today that casualties were caused by heavy rains, floods, landslides, earthquakes, and collapsing homes.
He added that 139 houses were completely destroyed, 657 partially damaged, 16 mosques, 870 shops, more than 9 kilometers of roads, 1,000 jeribs of agricultural land, dozens of solar panels were destroyed, and hundreds of livestock perished across multiple provinces, including Kabul, Kandahar, Balkh, Nangarhar, and Badakhshan.
Authorities said that since March 25, a total of 148 people have been martyred and 216 injured nationwide due to a wave of severe weather and related disasters.
