FM Muttaqi calls for expanded research on regional security, environment, and economy

KABUL: Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi, Foreign Minister of the Islamic Emirate, has said that Afghanistan’s relations with other countries, particularly those in Central Asia, have improved significantly, emphasizing that research institutions can play a key role in further strengthening these ties.

Speaking at the “Joint Meeting of Afghanistan and Central Asian Research Centers,” a journalist from Omid Radio quoted Muttaqi as saying, “Scientific and academic studies should be expanded in the areas of regional security and stability, environmental challenges, and economic cooperation.” He stressed that such research could help identify practical solutions for shared regional interests.

Muttaqi added that efforts are underway by the Islamic Emirate to strengthen relations with Central Asian countries, particularly in transit, trade, investment, and broader economic cooperation.

Minister Muttaqi also welcomed the reported agreement between the United States and Iran, describing it as a positive step toward ending conflict. He said war is harmful to all sides and expressed hope that the agreement would be implemented and contribute to ending ongoing tensions.
