KABUL: Abdul Qahar Balkhi, spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said the ministry’s delegation discussed the resumption of consular services for Afghans residing in Europe, confidence-building measures, and expanded engagement during meetings with representatives of European Union member states in Brussels.
In a post on X on Tuesday, Balkhi said the discussions took place through both bilateral and multilateral meetings, covering a range of issues, including the provision of consular services for Afghan nationals living in European countries.
He added that participants also explored possible solutions to the challenges faced by Afghans whose asylum applications have been rejected in Europe and who continue to encounter legal and humanitarian difficulties.
According to Balkhi, participants expressed hope that the visit would help strengthen engagement between the two sides and expand cooperation based on mutual respect and shared interests.
