KABUL: John Bolton, who served as National Security Advisor during Donald Trump’s first administration, has said that recent negotiations between Washington and Tehran focused primarily on energy markets and stabilizing global oil prices rather than Iran’s nuclear program and broader security concerns.
In his latest remarks, Bolton argued that the talks gave insufficient attention to key issues such as Iran’s nuclear activities and Tehran’s regional policies, while placing greater emphasis on economic objectives.
He stressed that any future agreement should not be limited to economic interests alone but must comprehensively address Iran’s nuclear program, its regional role, and wider security concerns.
According to Bolton, maintaining stability in global energy markets and reducing oil prices were among the principal objectives of the negotiations.
His comments come as Iran’s nuclear program and the future of U.S.-Iran relations remain central issues in international diplomatic and security discussions.
