Pakistan sets July 10 deadline for arrest of Afghan nationals without valid visas

KABUL: The Government of Pakistan has announced that, beginning on July 10, 2026, all Afghan nationals residing in the country without valid visas will be subject to arrest.
According to Pakistani media reports, the country’s Ministry of Interior has issued directives to provincial governments, the Islamabad administration, police forces, and other law enforcement agencies to implement the decision uniformly and strictly across Pakistan.
Under the directive, authorities have been instructed to identify, detain, and initiate legal procedures for the deportation of Afghan nationals who do not possess valid visas, in accordance with applicable regulations.
The announcement comes as Pakistan has, in recent months, continued implementing various phases of its campaign to repatriate undocumented foreign nationals, resulting in the departure of thousands of Afghan citizens from the country.
Pakistani authorities have stated that the measures are part of efforts to enforce immigration laws and regulate the status of foreign nationals residing in the country.
