KABUL: The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has expressed deep concern over the recent escalation of violence between Afghanistan and Pakistan and the resulting civilian casualties.
According to UN spokesperson Stéphane Dujarric, Guterres has called for an immediate cessation of hostilities and stressed the need to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure. He also urged both sides to resolve their differences through diplomacy and dialogue.
The United Nations emphasized that all parties involved must respect international humanitarian law and ensure the protection of civilians and civilian infrastructure under all circumstances.
The Secretary-General’s remarks come amid growing international concern over the recent cross-border violence and its humanitarian consequences.
