Afghanistan and Qatar reaffirm commitment to expanding bilateral relations

KABUL: Minister of Foreign Affairs Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi met with Dr. Murdif Al-Qashouti, the Ambassador of Qatar to Kabul, to discuss bilateral and regional issues.

According to a statement issued by the ministry, the two sides discussed ways to further expand relations between Afghanistan and Qatar and exchanged views on a number of regional issues of mutual interest.

Mawlavi Amir Khan Muttaqi described relations between Afghanistan and Qatar as positive and steadily expanding, and expressed appreciation for Qatar’s constructive role and continued efforts in facilitating engagement between the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan and the international community.

Meanwhile, the Qatari ambassador described his country’s relationship with Afghanistan as historic and deep-rooted. He assured his country’s commitment to supporting constructive engagement and strengthening relations between Afghanistan and the international community within the framework of its mediation-based foreign policy.

The meeting reflects ongoing diplomatic engagement between Kabul and Doha, as Qatar continues to play a significant role in facilitating dialogue on Afghanistan’s regional and international relations.
