KABUL: A delegation of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, led by Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs Mullah Abdul Ghani Baradar Akhund, will travel to Iran to attend the funeral and burial ceremonies of Iran’s former Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, a credible source told Radio Omid.
Earlier, Iran’s ambassador to Kabul delivered an official invitation for Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, the Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate, to attend the funeral ceremonies of Ayatollah Khamenei. The invitation was handed to Mullah Abdul Wasi, Chief of Staff of the Prime Minister’s Office.
Ayatollah Ali Khamenei lost his life approximately four months ago during joint U.S. and Israeli airstrikes.
Iranian media have reported that the funeral and burial ceremonies for Ayatollah Khamenei are scheduled to begin on Saturday of next week.
