KABUL: The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said in a statement that the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), Brham Salih, and the head of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Alexander De Croo, have arrived in Kabul.
According to the statement, Mawlavi Abdul Rahman Rashid, the Deputy Minister of Refugees and Repatriation, held discussions with the visiting delegation on the situation of Afghan refugees and returnees.
The statement quoted the UN High Commissioner as saying that since 2023, approximately six million Afghans have returned to the country, describing it as one of the largest return movements in the world.
He also reaffirmed the United Nations’ commitment to supporting the Afghan people and stated that efforts would continue to create employment opportunities and support sustainable livelihoods for returnees and local communities.
