Araghchi visits Oman for talks on the Strait of Hormuz

KABUL: Iranian Foreign Minister Dr. Sayed Abbas Araghchi has arrived in Oman for talks with Omani officials as tensions between Tehran and Washington continue to rise in the Gulf region.
According to Iran’s Tasnim News Agency today, Araghchi’s visit is part of ongoing bilateral consultations between Tehran and Muscat on regional developments, with a particular focus on the Strait of Hormuz.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the foreign ministers of Iran and Oman will discuss mechanisms to ensure the safe passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz in accordance with Article 5 of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding.
The visit comes amid heightened tensions between the United States and Iran over control and security in the Strait of Hormuz, following recent military confrontations.
