IEA Embassy in Moscow marks fifth Anniversary of Islamic Emirate’s return to power

KABUL: The Afghan Embassy in Moscow held a ceremony to mark the fifth anniversary of the Islamic Emirate’s return to power, attended by Zamir Kabulov, Russia’s special representative for Afghanistan, along with Russian officials and Afghan diplomats.

Speaking at the ceremony, Afghanistan’s ambassador to Moscow, Mawlavi Gul Hassan Hassan, described August 15 as a historic and significant day for Afghans and a symbol of the Afghan people’s struggle and sacrifices in the country’s contemporary history.

Addressing developments in Afghanistan, Hassan highlighted improvements in security and stability as well as economic progress, while emphasizing the country’s geographic position as an opportunity for regional connectivity, trade expansion and attracting investment.

He also said relations between Kabul and Moscow are expanding on the basis of mutual interests.

Kabulov congratulated Afghans on the fifth anniversary and welcomed what he described as improvements in Afghanistan’s security, stability and some areas of economic development.

He also reaffirmed Russia’s readiness to expand cooperation with Afghanistan in energy, transport, agriculture and mining.

Russia has expanded its engagement with Afghanistan in recent years and has repeatedly emphasized the development of economic and regional cooperation with Kabul.
