KABUL: At least 15 newborn babies died in a fire that broke out in the pediatric ward of a government hospital in Islamabad, the capital of Pakistan, Pakistani media have reported.

According to the reports, the fire may have been caused by a malfunction in the air-conditioning system or an explosion involving a compressor.

One baby was reportedly rescued from the fire during firefighting and rescue operations.
